Frequently Asked Questions

About Bike Fitting

What is a bike fit?

A bike fit adjusts your bike to match your unique body mechanics, flexibility, and riding style. The goal is to improve comfort, power, and injury prevention — whether you’re racing, training, or just enjoying your rides.

Why should I get a professional bike fit — and not just a shop fit?

Most local bike shops do a quick setup based on height or saddle position. At Besch Bike Fit, every session is guided by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who’s also an experienced cyclist. I combine clinical movement analysis with on-bike video assessment to find the most efficient and comfortable position for your body — not just what looks “right” on paper. You’ll leave with a position that maximizes power, prevents pain, and helps you ride stronger and longer.

Who is Besch Bike Fit for?

Whether you’re a casual rider, racer, or someone who just wants a more comfortable commute, Besch Bike Fit serves riders of all levels. I work with road cyclists, triathletes, gravel riders, mountain bikers, and even commuters across the Twin Cities.

Fit Process

What happens during a bike fit?

Every session includes a conversation about your goals, physical assessment, on-bike motion analysis, and precise adjustments to your position, saddle, and cleats. You’ll leave with a comfortable, efficient setup and a guarantee for an improved cycling experience.

How long does a fit take?

Most fits take 2-3 hours depending on your setup and needs.

What should I bring?

Bring your bike, cycling shoes, shorts, and any accessories you normally ride with. If you ride multiple bikes, bring them for comparison or setup adjustments.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?

Not at all. Many first-time riders come in simply to make their bike more comfortable.

Bikes and Equpiment

Do you fit all bike types?

Yes. I fit road, gravel, triathlon, mountain, and commuter bikes.

Can you help me choose the right bike size?

Absolutely. I offer pre-purchase bike sizing consultations to help you choose the right frame and geometry before you buy.

Do you sell or install components?

I don’t stock parts, but I’ll recommend the best options (saddles, stems, bars, etc.) and help you find them locally or online.

Performance & Comfort

Will a bike fit make me faster?

Yes — by improving your biomechanics and aerodynamics, a proper fit helps you ride faster and more efficiently with less fatigue.

Can a bike fit help with pain or injuries?

Definitely. As a physical therapist, I specialize in solving cycling-related pain like knee, back, or saddle discomfort through precise adjustments and movement analysis.
